Conceived for the Saudi Arabia Pavilion at the 24th Triennale Milano International Exhibition, Maghras emanates from a community research hub in Al Ahsa, one of the world’s oldest and largest oases. Through research, participatory workshops and experiments in production, the initiative explores how knowledge can be collectively cultivated, how environmental change influences cultural memory and how research can grow from places often overlooked in global narratives of progress.

Maghras – A Farm for Experimentation

The state deals with a lot of money. People and organisations need to declare, file, and pay taxes or receive returns if they overpaid the state. Tax contributions amount to billions of euros, funding public goods such as infrastructure, education, social welfare, and defence. In the 13th edition of our meetup series, we take a closer look at research and design in public finance and taxation, exploring diverse perspectives from 3 speakers. The evening aims to spark a discussion about the government’s or the state’s role, and how it can be accommodating to citizens, residents, and business owners.

The Kollage Kollectiv container space in Berlin becomes the setting for this 36th edition of the Roundtable — a site where architecture, experimentation, and community practice are already inseparable from the work being shown and discussed. Within this environment, Pauline Kess, Ed Rooth, and Alessandra Fabris come together in conversation — each approaching image-making through a different entry point: embodied performance, generative systems, and spatial identity.

This year, Berlin is celebrating a special anniversary: for 20 years, the capital has been part of the international network of UNESCO Cities of Design. This anniversary underscores not only Berlin’s significance as a hub for creativity, but also its close collaboration with partner cities around the world. To mark this milestone, Berlin will welcome an international delegation of around 80 guests from cities such as Helsinki, Seoul, Singapore, Mexico City, and Bandung in June 2026. Together with representatives from the design industry and numerous figures from Berlin’s creative scene, the anniversary will be celebrated on June 9, 2026, starting at 6 p.m. at Radialsystem—in cooperation with Berlin Partner and Berlin Design e. V.

Organized by Aedes and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Berlin, this event builds on the Water: Curse or Blessing?! series by summarizing its key findings and launching an accompanying book. Following this, an expert panel will explore how policies and spatial planning can accelerate the transition toward circular, resilient cities. Ultimately, the discussion will highlight the vital connection between urban development and circularity across both Germany and the Netherlands.

The Berlin University of the Arts invites you to the Rundgang - Open Days. Workshops, studios and rehearsal rooms of the colleges of Fine Arts, Architecture, Media and Design, Music and Performing Arts as well as the Jazz Institute Berlin and the Berlin Career College open their doors at the end of the academic year. From painting, sculpture, and performance to design sketches, fashion shows, and film screenings to concerts, dance, and sound installations, students will show the results and processes of their artistic work.

Department 5 | School of CULTURE + DESIGN at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences is hosting WERKSCHAU and opening its doors to culture enthusiasts and prospective students, professionals from the cultural and creative industries, alumni, all local residents, young and old alike. Over 1,500 students are showcasing their latest work in the fields of communication design, fashion design, industrial design, system design, public design, clothing technology, museology, museum management and restoration.

Die Ausstellung widmet sich zwei herausragenden Protagonisten des Aesthetic Movements, dessen Kult der Schönheit einen wesentlichen Impuls für die Entstehung der gestalterischen Moderne setzte. Ausgehend von der beispielhaften Verbindung von Kunst, Design und Lebensstil, die Godwin und Wilde kultivierten, beleuchtet die Schau die ästhetischen und gesellschaftlichen Grundlagen einer Bewegung, die über das 19. Jahrhundert hinaus wirkmächtig blieb und die Entwicklung des Designs maßgeblich beeinflusste. Erleben Sie die Eleganz und Extravaganz des viktorianischen Aesthetic Movements. Nach einer Kuratorenführung durch die Ausstellung klingt der Abend bei einem Cocktail aus – bei gutem Wetter im Freien.

This intensive, week-long master class immerses participants in the material culture and making techniques of European medieval glass, with a particular focus on Germanic traditions. Through close study of historical drinking vessels from the Middle Ages, participants will investigate form, proportion, and construction, and actively translate these historical methods into rigorous contemporary hot-shop practice.

On 26 and 27 July, the Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin will open its studios, workshops and laboratories for the ‘Rundgang – Open Days’, offering insights into the creative and research processes of emerging artists and designers across approximately 2,000 square metres of exhibition space.
